Remodels
Remodeling
2/20/2011
Kitchen Remodels, Bathroom Remodels, Whole House Remodels, Single Room Remodels or an Addition, there are
several things to consider. Here is a short list of some of these things.
In a few days we will have a small report on remodels covering this and more for free for you to download.
-
Budget. While some costs have gone down there are many costs that haven't such as
materials. Some pricing on materials fluctuate seasonally but some materials have actually gone up.
Kitchen Remodels are one of the most common in remodeling. The most used space in the home.
Some things that will affect the budget are:
-
Types of cabinets, wood species. Oak, Cherry, Maple, Birch, Alder, etc. Custom cabinets or "Box"
(prefabed) cabinets?
-
Type of flooring. Wood, Tile, Slate, Vinyl, other?
-
Type of counter tops: Laminate, Granite, Marble, Concrete, Tile, Corian, Cambria?
-
Types of backsplashes: Laminate, Tile, Stone, Marble, Granite?
-
Additional Lighting: Recessed lighting, undermount lighting, accent lighting?
-
Plumbing moves?
-
Any walls needing removed?
-
Any soffits being eliminated?
These are just a few of the major question that could impact you budget for a Kitchen remodel. Bathroom
remodels would have many of the same questions as well as a few others.
2. Layout. Is your remodel a tear out and replace? For example: Are you
only taking
out your old cabinets and replacing them with new ones or maybe just re-facing your
existing cabinets? Are you moving walls? Moving Plumbing? Electrical? Many of these
things would apply to a Master Bath remodel or a Main Bath remodel as well.
Will your new layout affect any structural changes?
Maybe you're planning an addition. Is there enough room on your property to add
space your home? What size will it be. Will it be intefering with any other rooms
either on the main floor or the lower level or even second floor?
3. Interior Finishes. What type of wall texture or finishes will you have? How
many
paint colors will be used? In recent years there have become a multitude of options.
There are many other things to consider when planning a remodel. In a few days
we will have that report ready for you.
Bret Ferguson at Gateway Homes has been doing remodels since he first started building in the mid
90's. We didn't jump on the remodel bandwagon just because the economy pushed us in that direction like so many
have. We've always done remodels and new construction. We have years of remodeling experience over many out there
"now" doing remodels.
So call us today for a free estimate on your project whether it's a remodel or new construction. We'd
be happy to sit down and talk to you about your project.
